Kronos360 specializes in luxury watches, and will give you several advices to maintain your watch:
How to maintain your watch?
1 - By caution, go to your watch's manufacturer as soon as you see a significant disfunction compared to the standards of the model (A Rolex for exemple has a margin of +/- 6 seconds per day)
2 - All watchmakers recommend you to go full check up your watch every three years. FYI a good watch should perfectly work 5 to 7 years at least without any minor dysfunction. If you passed your guarantee, any professionnel watchmen can check it.
3 - We highly recommend you not to sleep with your watch to prevent any unwanted shocks.
4 - Even if your watch is waterproof, we recommend you not to go swim in the sea or the pool with it, as the salt can progressively deteriorate the water resistance. If you do so, rinse your watch with ambiant temperature water.
5 - If your watch's water resistance fails, go give it to repair immediately. Humidity can break some of the watches mechanism that cant be replaced.
6 - Make sure to lock the crown before going in the water as it is the central point of the water resistance of your watch.
7 - It is advised not to change the time between 11pm and 2 am as it can impact the date mechanism.
8 - For minor scratches on the bezel, use polywash cream. For deeper ones ask for a professional to polish it
9 - If you aren't wearing your watch for a long time, keep it somewhere without humidity nor light.
10 - It is advised to wear your watch at least twice a year to maintain the mechanisms working
If you follow all these steps, your watch should last numerous decades. At last we advise you not to keep your watch with your documents as its will be more complicated to declare in case of it getting stolen.
