It is the return of the great celebration of cinema made in France: The Cannes Film Festival.
After two years tarnished by a Covid epidemic as fast as it was violent, the red carpet of the Palais des Festivals is once again regaining colors, it was time!
The stars are also back, and offer us the usual show of high fashion dresses and satin tuxedos under a cloud of flash. What better podium for brands than this great occasion?
All the great figures who tread the steps know it, this celebration of cinema is a huge advertising showcase. This is where partnerships with ambassadors make sense. If the Chopard brand has long had the most important place within the festival (let's not forget that it is it that manufactures the famous fins), this does not prevent the competition from prevailing.
Among them? Nothing but the greatest, starting with Cartier who dresses here the wrist of Edgar Ramirez (Zero Dark Thirty, Joy ...) with his latest reissue of the Tank chinoise. The Cartier design office strives again and again to redesign its most beautiful pieces to sublimate each iteration. This Tank chinoise is back in Cartier's private collections for a good and beautiful reason: we celebrate the 100th anniversary of its release this year.

But more than deliberately formal watches, you can see everything on the red carpet. Witness this year the wrist of Glenn Powell, young actor on the bill of the summer blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick, which sports a superb Omega Speedmaster. Not trivial for a red carpet piece, to believe that the shooting made some want to fly at high altitude ...

However, it is difficult to talk about Top Gun without mentioning the one who, on its own, evokes the license in the making: Tom Cruise. The Hollywood superstar-actor-producer is back in Cannes this year, and takes the opportunity to be awarded a palme d'or of honor by Mr. Lescure himself, in celebration of a phenomenal career. Faced with all this, a unique timepiece that is none other than the ultra-coveted Vacheron Constantin Overseas, in its declination with a perpetual calendar.

Highly desirable, this highly sought-after model is now displayed at nearly two hundred thousand euros. A very original choice, but is quite expensive !
In terms of originality, the previous edition was just as rich. Witness the famous (and celebrated) director Spike Lee, always colorful and proudly displaying his personalized piece made in Artisans de Genève, or the brilliant Adam Driver and his Breitling Chronomat.

But in Cannes, the hegemony of Chopard and formal watches is indisputable or almost. We could see Mads Mikkelsen sporting a superb L.U.C. XPS fairmined last year, and it is the turn of young firsts like Miles Teller (Whiplash, War dogs ...) or Greg Tarzan and his model in rose gold and diamonds to take over in 2022.
